October – a month of Celebration, Support, Running & Giving Back
In Florida it takes a while to feel like Fall – but the races feel amazing when it does! Seminole County Moms Run This Town participated in numerous races and events throughout the month of October.
All Month from October 5th – November 4th we have been busy working hard to “trick or treat” our members. IF you haven’t seen someone at your group run – you will soon with treats that include a junior size frosty, sweets and give-a-ways from our amazing Summer Virtual Vendors.
Starting with Pink Feet on October 11th – members supported Breast Cancer Awareness by running either a 5k or 10K.
Seminole County MRTT continued to raise awareness by hosting a PINK OUT week within the chapter. Members were encouraged to wear PINK to support those that have been affected by Breast Cancer. Our PINK OUT Contest continued through October 18th. We are fortunate to have a Donna Marathon Representative who is also battling breast cancer in our chapter. Tracey shared her discount code with the chapter for registrations of the Donna Marathon Weekend in Jacksonville, FL – February 2016 . Discount Code: AmbTracey16
Pink OUT week ended in a Raffle won by Nikki and she received an awesome MRTT shoe charm.
October 19th – October 23rd we changed our focus to a GIVE BACK and painted it purple for the week to raise awareness for for Domestic Violence. Our local shelter “Safe House of Seminole” was chosen as the charity for donations. Members sent in items that the organization needs for the individuals supported. For awareness members were asked to wear purple or participate in the Paint It Purple Program. Domestic Violence is typically a hidden social problem, SCMRTT wanted to do their part for awareness.
October isn’t over yet! We are currently having a blast with HALLOWEEN WEEK! Encouraging members to run in costume all week long! Raffle at the end – so put on those costumes! So far we’ve had a “hunter with her dog”, evil queen, a hula girl and a whole group of costumed mamas including one as Forrest Gump!
